The History
Built around one of Asia's great harbours.
Telok Blangah — Malay for "cooking-pot bay," after the shape of its old anchorage — grew up beside one of Asia's great natural harbours. Renamed Keppel Harbour in 1900 after Admiral Henry Keppel, the deep-water port drew shipping, godowns and dockyards that made this coast a centre of maritime trade for over a century.
Inland rose Mount Faber, one of Singapore's oldest hill parks, while the offshore island of Pulau Blakang Mati was a military post before its transformation into the resort island of Sentosa. At the water's edge, the World Trade Centre anchored cruise and exhibition traffic until it was rebuilt as HarbourFront Centre and, in time, VivoCity. Few districts hold so much of Singapore's port story in one place.
What's Changing

District 4 sits at the front of Singapore's biggest long-term project, the Greater Southern Waterfront, which will turn around 30 km of southern coastline — including the relocating Tanjong Pagar and Keppel port terminals — into new homes, offices and continuous waterfront promenades, with roughly 9,000 new homes in its early phases.
The former Keppel Club site along Telok Blangah Road is among the first parcels released, set to deliver around 745 private homes as an early marker of the transformation. Above it all, the Southern Ridges trail — linking Mount Faber Park, Telok Blangah Hill Park and Kent Ridge via the sculptural Henderson Waves bridge — keeps the district's green spine intact, while Sentosa and Resorts World, reached by cable car and boardwalk, anchor leisure at the waterfront.
