The History

Potong Pasir takes its name from the Malay for "cut sand," recalling the sand quarries that worked the area between 1910 and 1937; by the 1950s its land had turned to vegetable farms. As the city grew outward, the higher ground here was laid out into freehold landed estates that still define the district today.
Chief among them is Braddell Heights, a mature freehold enclave of detached and semi-detached bungalows spanning the Macpherson and Potong Pasir neighbourhoods, its quiet, tree-lined roads a short drive from town.
